Science with Mrs. Carey

Mrs. Carey received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and also in French from the University of Southern California. She began her teaching career at Belmont High School in the Los Angeles Unified School District. She has taught Biology and Advanced Placement Biology in the Hart School District since 1985 at Saugus, Hart and Valencia High Schools. In 1994 she obtained a Master’s Degree in Secondary Science Education from California State University, Northridge. She received Teacher of the Year honors in 2002 while at Valencia High School. Mrs. Carey also mentored new teachers in the Hart School District’s Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) program for five years and has spent the last two years at Rancho Pico Junior High. Mrs. Carey is married to a USC graduate and has two sons and two daughters-in-law who attended UCLA. The Careys adopted a yellow Labrador Retriever named Buckley (who is a graduate of the Guide Dogs of America program in Sylmar) and a Cocker Spaniel puppy named Buddy.
