Week of May 7 - 11

DAY:

Monday :

Tuesday :
Wednesday :
Thursday :
Friday :
KICK-OFF:

What are some things that scientists can learn about Earth by examining fossils?

How are relative age and absolute age different?

What are the 2 requirements for an organism to become an index fossil?

What is a half-life?

What is Pangaea?

GOAL OF THE DAY:

Know that the “law of superposition” states that older rock layers are beneath younger rock layers.

Understand how to use extrusions, intrusions, faults and index fossils to determine relative age.

Understand that scientists can determine the absolute age of rocks by using radioactive dating.

Understand that Earth’s continents used to be joined together to form a supercontinent called Pangaea.

Understand that plates are the major pieces of Earth’s rocky outer layer on which continents and oceans move.
