West Ranch Choir

Ms Molly Peters, Choral Director of West Ranch High School, earned her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While studying at the U of I, Miss Peters had the opportunity to take private voice lessons with Dr. Ollie Watts Davis. She also performed with the University of Illinois Graduate Chorale as an undergraduate, performing such works as Felix Mendelssohn’s “Elijah,” George Friderick Handel’s “Messiah,” Aaron Copland’s “Creation,” and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Vespers.” The chorale also performed Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria” for a performance by the Mark Morris Dance Group of New York. She currently sings with Donald Brinegar at Pasadena City College as part of The Don Brinegar Singers. Ms Peters is also President of the Santa Clarita Choral Educator's Association and serves on the SCVA (Southern California Vocal Association) board as Vice President of Junior High Honor Choir.

Upon completion of her degree, Miss Peters lived outside of Chicago in Evanston, Illinois. Because her twin sister was already living in Southern California and Illinois was very, very cold, she moved west as well. She taught high school choir for two years in Bakersfield before relocating to Santa Clarita to open both Rancho Pico Junior High School and West Ranch High School. In spring of 2007, she completed her Masters Degree in Educational Administration from California State University, Bakersfield. In her free time, Miss Peters enjoys volunteering at Bark Avenue Foundation animal shelter in Downtown Los Angeles, traveling (In the summer of 2008, Miss Peters was awarded a grant to study Mozart in Vienna, Austria with 24 other teachers from around the U.S. for four weeks), reading, playing with her cat, watching movies, cooking, going to Dodgers baseball games, driving her hybrid car, and of course attending all kinds of live concerts and operas in L.A.
