Sping Semester 2008
Dear Parents,
This letter is written to clarify my expectations in your son’s/daughter’s Algebra B math class and to solicit your support to ensure their success.
During this semester, please support me by being diligent in watching your child’s progress. Many students believe they can pass without hard work. Watch for comments on each of the 5-week progress reports and report cards that may indicate your child is falling short in certain categories. The comment, “in danger of failing” should not be taken lightly.
I have reviewed homework records and realize that some students tend to not “do their part” in homework. For this reason, I have a policy that will require students to write a letter to their parent or guardian after missing seven homework assignments or earning 10 partial credits on homework assignments. I will collect this written letter and mail it to you. This will give you a chance to know how your child is doing with their math and it should stop that old adage “I finished it at school.” If you could please take the time to check over your child’s work, that would be very helpful. I believe that students’ grades will improve if they just put the time into practicing the material.
I am hoping that if we work together we can ensure your child has a successful learning experience in math.
Thank you,
Kevin McDermott
