Greetings! Welcome to Mr. Oatey’s history class web page! A brief history lesson about myself: This will be my 26th year teaching 7th grade world history at Arroyo Seco Jr. High. I have also taught 8th grade U.S. history and will be teaching a computer elective class this year. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and attended UCLA, graduating in 1984 with a BA in Geography/Ecosystems. I received my teaching credential from CSUN in 1987. I played drums in the marching band while at UCLA and was selected to participate in the All-American Olympic marching band which performed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. I’m married to Mrs. Oatey, a special education history teacher also here at Arroyo Seco and we have two sons, one who is attending Biola University as a senior and one who is in his second year at College of the Canyons. I enjoy traveling, playing drums and spending time with my loving family. I thoroughly enjoy teaching junior highers and I look forward to an incredible fulfilling and educational 2012-2013 school year!
