Physics
Albert Einstein (1879-1955) is the most famous physicist of the 20th century. He was elected Time Magazine's Man of the Century for his contributions to theoretical physics and for his activities as a spokesman for science and pacifism. Einstein was best known for his work on his special and general theories of relativity, but was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work on the photoelectric effect.
