Advanced Placement Physics
Richard Feynman (1918-1988) was a theoretical physicist at Caltech. He won the Nobel Prize for his work in Quantum Electrodynamics. He also worked on the Manhattan Project during WWII. He is best known as being an excellent lecturer, with a terrific sense of humor and a knack for making very complex topics understandable. He has written several books of which I recommend "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!" This book features short (1-10 page) anecdotes from Feynman's life experiences. It is truly fun to read and gives a great insight into Feynman's philosophy of life. In a 1959 talk "There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom", Feynman predicted nanotechnology, data compression, and microcomputers.
