To Enroll Yourself in a Class: New Students

1.       Go to http://www.turnitin.com/static/index.html

2.       From the upper-right hand corner of the Turnitin page, click New Users.

3.       If you have not been in Turnitin before, go to “New students start here” and click “Create a user profile.” [If you have been in Turnitin before, you the same log in you used back in the day. Then enroll yourself in the class you are now in. Down below is a link to use if you’ve forgotten your password.]

4.       Click “student.”

5.       Your class ID number is the following:

ú         English 081 - 2824446

ú         English 091 – 2818366

ú         Your class enrollment password (which is case sensitive), typed all together with no spaces, is …

ú         English081 (if you are in English 081), or

ú         English091 (if you are in English 091).

ú         Use whatever e-mail address you are most likely to receive mail at.

If you forget your password …

use the link below to reset it:

1.       From that link, enter the e-mail address for your login.

2.       Click “next.”

3.       Click on the highlighted words in blue indicating to “click here to have a password reset link e-mailed to you.”

It will e-mail you a reset password to the email account you entered for your account. The email must be acknowledged within one hour for it to work, otherwise you will have to follow the steps again to have another e-mail sent. Note that all passwords are case-sensitive. Please check your spam, bulk or junk folder for the password help auto-mailer as it is sometimes filtered as spam.

To Submit a Paper

1.       Click on the name of your class to open your portfolio—you may have several classes.

2.       Click the submit icon to upload your paper.

3.       Once you have located your paper and entered a title, click submit.

4.       Select cut & paste with the pull down to submit a paper in a file format. Turnitin accepts Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect, HTML, Adobe PostScript, Plain text (TXT), Rich Text Format (RTF), and Portable Document Format. If your document fails to be accepted, it could be because you used a program not found on this list.

5.       Make sure you select the correct paper; click “yes, submit” to finalize your submission.

6.       Click the portfolio icon to return to your portfolio and view your submission.

7.       Write down your digital receipt # after submission.

NOTES:

·         There is only one difference between a Turnitin version and a hard copy: in the turnitin version, skip lines between paragraphs; in the hard copy, don’t skip lines.

·         If you’ve already submitted your paper, then decide to make some changes, you will want to re-submit your paper. Yes, the program will allow you to re-submit a paper.
