Our Students!!!
News flash: Portfolio Days will be at Cal-Arts in October! We need to prepare and go as a group! AP students, just what you've all been waiting for...drum roll, please...ALL PASSED! We averaged a 4! Congratulations! Let's work for a 5 this year. Valencia Vikings have what it takes!!!

Jordan Recchia is beginning his second year at the College of Creative Studies. He received a substantial scholarship, and is studying transporation design. He visited our AP students and shared his work, and will come and talk with our students about preparing a portfolio for college.
Nicole Malinowski and Melissa Wilson are starting their third years at Cal-Arts. Nicole came and talked with our students at the art gallery and brought her latest projects. It helped our students to realize that they had no time to waste in preparing for college.
Nik Bales, 06-07, has his work showing at the Lancaster Museum Art Gallery and is displaying his work in a gallery close to Hollywood.
Holli Juan-Thomas is editor of College of the Canyon's literary magazine, while still a VHS senior.
Leah Salimbene, 07-08 secretary of the National Art Honor Society,
is attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in the fall. Congratulations to Leah on her scholarship!
Andrew Bang, the 07-08 president of the National Art Honor Society, and Michael Park, the 07-08 vice-president, received drop-your-mouth scholarships to the California College of the Arts. Congratulations to two very deserving students!
Adam Bautista and Leah Salimbene had their art published in the National Art Honor Society News. Adam has just started at Otis, and we are very proud of him.
The Signal created a wonderful article about our students at the Symphony Art Show, and many had their work published.
Some of us recently attended a city council meeting, and that was very interesting.
CNN Headline News came and spent the afternoon with us. They ran a three-minute story about our class and what we do.
Our students participated in the Street Painting Fair, and also had a mask-making booth. They taught art to elementary school students and were amazed by the young talent of the second and fourth graders. We also left with greater appreciation to the wonderful teachers and students of Mountainview Elementary School.
Andrew Bang placed second in the Congressional Art Competition
and Nick Bales placed third. Congratulations!
Talent...talent...talent...please let me know if there is someone I should add to our list!
Valencia High School students rock, walk, and talk ART!
