The Native American creation myth differs from other myths in many respects. The movement of the narrative is on a vertical plane rather than the typical horizontal story line. The close connection of animals and humans is seen in this myth in the representation of animals as leaders and icons in their culture. The coyote shows the trickster archetype seen in many native american myths. There is a harmony exhibited in this story that is very different from the waring gods of the Greeks or the supreme rule of Marduk in Babylonia.
Harmony with nature is seen in the Native American Medicine Wheel. |
