For freshmen only, 50 point extra credit essay in support of the Who Am I project: link to instructions and sample paragraph. No partial credit for doing part of the assignment. Must include all three 150 + word paragraphs, must have proper formatting and must be submitted in hard copy to Mrs. H. on November 30 AND to TURNITIN.

Valencia Theater information: www.myspace.com/valenciadrama which, unfortunately, I can't access from school but you should be able to access from home. There is usually one major play and two minor student productions..

Any Valencia Theater Production - One full page typed, double spaced critique attached to the program with Mr. Whelan's signature on it can earn you 20 points of Extra Credit. Critique is always due no later than the Tuesday after the production. A critique is NOT a plot summary. It is an evaluation of how effectively the production was done - lighting, costumes, casting, sound, set and so forth. Within the limits of a High School cast and budget how effectively did they produce this play?

Book Recommendations: 4 points each for a maximum of 20 points

Submit book recommendations for Reading Recommendation list. To submit you must send me an edited, spell-checked, complete e-mail at bhuffak@hartdistrict.org that includes:

1.(last name first please) author

2. the name of the book,

3. the genre (such as Historical fiction, war story, biography, sci-fi, fantasy etc.),

4. a few sentences that give just a little bit about the book

5.the reason you recommend that book,

6. your name,

7.whether it is in the Valencia High library. Check the library catalog to find out. You can recommend books that are NOT in our library, but you must check to see if they are there, even if your copy came from another source.

It will be rejected until you have all seven elements and have corrected any spelling, capitalization and punctuation errors.

Unused Bathroom Pass - Ninth grade=30 bonus points , Tenth and Eleventh Grade = 20 bonus points.

Bathroom Pass extra credit is available ONLY if you turn them in the day of your final DURING CLASS. No, you may not turn it in early nor can you say, "I forgot it at home. Can I bring it this afternoon." Well, you can say it. It just won't help you at all.

Occasional Extra Credit puzzles after a major test.- usually 10 bonus points

If I give you an extra credit assignment to keep you quiet after a test you may turn it in the following day at the very beginning of class for 10 points.
