Golden Valley High School
2006 Band and Flag/Drill Boosters

What is Boosters?

Boosters is a parent organization that supports students in the band and flag program. They aid in several things: fundraising, transportation, support, food and snacks, scholarships, etc.

How do I join?

This is the easy one! If your student is in the band or flag program you are a member of the Booster Organization. Whether you are an active or inactive member is up to you but, your name does appear on the roster!

How do I get involved?

Booster parent meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm in the Band Room (Room # 607). Flyers are sent home with your students a week and then a few days prior to the meeting.

What are the financial obligations associated with band and flag?

I firmly believe that money should never stop a student from being involved in music or dance. Our program does, however, run on money. Many of the high schools in the area charge a great deal just to walk in the band room door. I am doing all that I can to keep costs down and find others ways of raising money. Booster membership fees this year will be $100. This fee includes the fall band t-shirt. Other fees include uniform fees and touring costs. This year we are also trying to raise money for half the cost of our Marching Band Uniforms. Please see attached payment form for costs and due dates.

What if I can't pay the fees?

We can definitely work things out. Payments arrangements can be made as long as they are in writing and signed by the parents. We also have a small scholarship fund for students in need. Scholarship forms will be available next week. I grew up in a family with 6 very active kids. I know money can be tight, and I would never want to put undue burden on anyone. Please let me know whatever I can do to help.

What if I choose not to be involved in the Booster program?

No problem. The only thing we would ask of you is an additional $150 to help make up the difference of your time and input. Your only obligation as an active member of the Boosters is to participate in one fundraising committee of your choice. Help out with the car washes, head up the recycling committee, pick a restaurant and plan a Grizzly night out, or come up with another idea and find some parents to help you out!
